Vietnam Aims to Create 1.6M New Jobs in 2011
The Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has targeted to generate 1.6 million new jobs this year, up 6% over 2009, heard a conference in Hanoi on Jan 5.
The figure will include 87,000 overseas jobs.
To gain the goal, the ministry will focus on building harmonious labor relations, increasing the scale and improving the quality of vocational training. It will also work to shift the restructure towards higher industrial and service percentage while reducing the number in agriculture.
Last year, the Southeast Asia country created over 1.6 million new jobs, an increase of 6% over 2009, including over 85,000 overseas jobs.
Industry and construction led in creating jobs in the country during the year.
The efficiency of job generation over the past year contributed to help reduce unemployment rate in urban areas from 4.66% in 2009 to 4.43% in 2010. (New Hanoi)
