Electricity Prices Rise from March

On February 23, 2011, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed a decision on raising electricity price to VND1,242 per kWh (excluded VAT), an increase of VND 165 against the average price in 2010. The new price will be applicable from March 1.

 

Under the Decision 268/QD-TTg dated February 23, 2011, selling prices will be defined for specific seven groups of users.

 

Accordingly, the first level will be applied for low-income households which regularly consume less than 50 kWh per month. Poor households will receive monthly subsidy of VND30,000 each. Prices will be higher in following levels. Places without direct connectivity to national grid will be applied ceiling and floor prices.
