Helping Enterprises Learn about US Financial Organisations

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has recently held a seminar between Vietnam's enterprises and the foreign commercial service of the US embassy in Vietnam in order to promote understanding of the US market.

As well as helping local enterprises learn about import activities of the US market, the meeting also provided knowledge about insurance services for enterprises.

Representatives from the US embassy's foreign commercial service introduced financial organisations in the US, with a focus on EXIM Bank, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the US Trade and Development Agency (TDA), which has carried out many activities in Vietnam. Le Anh Tuyet, the head project/finance coordinator from the US embassy, stressed that these financial organisations were not competing with commercial banks and insurance companies in the US as they concentrate on high-risk projects, which are often refused by commercial banks and insurance companies. Representatives from the US embassy's foreign commercial service also introduced and provided guides on services of US financial organisations, including credit, insurance and guarantee, to help Vietnam's enterprises make calculated decisions on choosing partners for their import and export activities.
