MARD Joins GEF-Funded Project
The Government has assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to act as a coordinating agency in the project “Strategies for trawl fisheries bycatch management.”
The Global Environment Fund (GEF) will provide a non-refundable aid worth US$464.000 for the project, which aims to protect the environment, fishery resources and bio-diversity to support fishersmen’s incomes and sustainable livelihood.
The MARD will be responsible for collecting comments, verifying, approving and signing related documents with the sponsor and implementing the project.
The project will be implemented from this year through 2014.
