South Korea celebrated its 4,343rd National Foundation Day at Intercontinental Asiana Saigon Hotel on October 3, 2011,
High-profile attendants included South Korean Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Oh Jae Hack, high-ranking officials of HCM City People’s Committee, representatives from Long An, Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces, and South Korean business leaders in the city.
Newly appointed Consul General Oh Jae Hack spoke high of friendly economic and political relations between the two nations and expressed his hopes that this relationship will thrive. The two nations will celebrate their 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment next year.
At present, South Korea is the biggest foreign investor in Vietnam with a total investment capital of over US$23 billion. As of the end of July 2011, the two-way trade revenue exceeded US$10 billion. The two countries expected a bilateral trade turnover at US$20 billion in 2020.
