Germany Helps Vietnam with Urban Development in Sustainable Way
On the occasion of the visit of Mr Jan Mücke - Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development - the governments of Vietnam and Germany co-hosted a workshop titled “Urban Development, Urban Transport and Energy Efficient Construction” on October 7, 2011 at the Sheraton Hotel of Hanoi, Vietnam.
The German Federal Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development is interested in exchanging experience with Vietnamese experts. The Ministry set itself the long-term goal to strengthen Vietnamese-German co-operation and make German knowledge and know-how available for Vietnam while tightening Vietnamese-German trade ties.
The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities facing urban development in Vietnam and identified the common roadblocks to effective sectoral policy coordination in urban areas. Thematic sessions focus on key Vietnamese urban development issues such as energy efficiency, transportation safety and sustainability, as well as the quality of buildings and infrastructure. This workshop also opened a dynamic and continuous knowledge exchange on urban development practices in Germany and Vietnam and presents an invaluable opportunity for the two countries to foster synergistic collaboration in the quest for a more sustainable future.
