PetroVietnamTrade Union: Nucleus of Patriotic Emulation Movement

Dr Ha Dinh Duy, Member of the Executive Board of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Member of the Standing Party Committee of PetroVietnam, and Chairman of Trade Union of Oil and Gas Industry, said: Changing thinking and perception is the most difficult matter but it is the most fundamental issue. The PetroVietnam Trade Union has actively and continuously instilled Uncle Ho’s viewpoint “All need to emulate and self-emulate” in everyone’s heart. Uncle Ho said, “Emulation is patriotism, patriots must emulate, the emulators are the most patriotic people.” Due to characteristic oil and gas activities, the PetroVietnam Trade Union studied and selected plans of organising specifically conditioned emulation campaigns for specific areas, projects and units. Particularly, the Trade Union always attaches much importance to raising awareness and responsibility, instilling confidence, national pride and industry pride, and boosting knowledge of the importance of oil and gas industry to the country.

 

The Vietnamese oil and gas industry has launched a lot of broad movements in different forms and registered winner titles for each year. The action philosophy is “Unity, modernity, integration and sustainable development.” Outstanding emulation movements include “Working with creativity, promoting initiatives,” “Today’s work not for tomorrow done,” “Finishing ahead of schedule,” “90 days and nights of finalising,” and “Practising thrift, preventing wastefulness, saying no to unsafe working.” Emulation movements at corporate levels have been launched in a wider scale and wider scope in all aspects and fields of production and life. Such movements are also responded to general emulation campaigns initiated by the State and the Party like “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s virtues” and “Exercising thrift, combating wastefulness, fighting against corruption.”

 

The 2011 - 2015 period is extremely important as the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) will focus on employing innovative solutions to accelerate development to become a powerful economic group in the region and the world and become a symbol and economic force - the pride of the Vietnamese people. The PetroVietnam Trade Union is the core of "Solidarity, dynamism, creativity, endeavour for the successful accomplishment of socioeconomic development tasks in the 2011 - 2015 period" to carry out the patriotic emulation campaign. The Trade Union will accelerate and diversify patriotic emulation movements in PetroVietnam Group in association with the "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s virtues” to arouse potential, resources, synergy and pride in PetroVietnam Group to create trust, creative labour, enthusiasm and desire to be given the chance of joining emulation in labour, production and business to accomplish all norms in the second five-year development stage ahead of time. The Trade Union will encourage emulation programmes in all aspects of production, business, culture, branding, thrift practice, waste prevention and social security to build the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group into a strong brand of Vietnam and stand on par with leading economic groups in the region and in the world.
