Unilever Vietnam Fund Improves Children’s Health
On November 30, 2011 at Hoa Sua kindergarten, Nam Dinh city, Unilever Vietnam Fund (UVF) in collaboration with the Pre-school Department under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) organized the closing conference of the 5 year program “Enhancing dissemination of personal hygiene and health protection for pre-school children.”
“Enhancing dissemination of personal hygiene and health protection for pre-school children” is a cooperation program between UVF and the Pre-school Department under MoET, which has been implemented from 2007 to 2011 in 25 provinces nationwide. Previously, the idea of educating kindergarten children about personal hygiene was also supported by UVF in 2005 and 2006.
After 5 years of implementation, with sponsoring budget up to VND10 billion from UVF, the program has been carried out in 175 schools in 25 provinces nationwide with 60,000 childreneducated and trained on personal hygiene skills. Recognizing the practical significance of the program, numerous provinces, including Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai and Quang Binh, have mobilized various resources to replicate the model and achieved appreciable results with nearly 50,000 children enjoying benefits from the replicated program.
