SBV Promotes Payment Cards
The State Bank of Vietnam’s (SBV) HCM City branch’s director proposed regulating foreign currency transfers with payment cards at the central bank.
Tran Ngoc Minh said the proposal is can work in conjunction with the current regulations (individuals need SBV approval to take over US$3,000 worth of foreign currency out of the country). International payment cards are not subject to this regulation.
There are around 90,000 international cards circulating in Vietnam.
