Vietnam, Thailand, Laos Provinces Boost Cooperation

The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum recently hosted a conference to promote socioeconomic development cooperation between a number of provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.
 
The conference on development cooperation on East - West, Mountain - Sea economic corridors gathered Kon Tum, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces (Vietnam), Ubon Ratchathani and Sisakhet provinces (Thailand) and Champasak, Salavan, Sekong and Attapeu provinces (Laos).
 
Mr Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee, said: Uniting together, these provinces with their own potential and strengths will complement one another to create an abundant number of products and services in all fields. At the conference, delegates discussed plans for future cooperation.
 
On the basis of potential and strengths of each province, the conference focused on measures to boost cooperation in several fields, including travel business, industrial crops planting and processing (rubber and coffee), exchange of coffee and rubber technical and quality improvement techniques, machine and equipment supply for agricultural production, forest resources preservation and development, energy, mining, and construction materials production. The stakeholders also agreed to upgrade and expand the 50 km road from Bo Y - Phu Cua border gate to Attapeu (Laos).
