Petroleum Industry to Speed up Projects

State-run PetroVietnam is speeding up the construction of five major projects including the largest oil refinery, a gas-electricity-fertiliser complex, an oil refining-petrochemical complex, the longest oil pipeline, and a large fertiliser plant.

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation, through the Phu My Fertilizer and Chemical Company, has been working with contractor EPC to solve outstanding problems emerging in the commissioning period to have two fertiliser workshops operational by September. The urea fertiliser workshop has produced over 7,000 tonnes of high quality products over the past three months.

PetroVietnam is also pressuring the managerial board of the Dung Quat oil refinery project in the central coastal province of Quang Ngai to select eligible contractors for mud treatment, as well as to design construction plans of various sub-projects.

The gas, electricity and fertiliser complex in the southernmost province of Ca Mau has completed the ground levelling stage for its electricity and fertiliser projects while the construction of infrastructural projects, such as a seaport and a traffic system from the Ca Mau township to the industrial zone, is on track, said PetroVietnam.

PetroVietnam has also finished a feasibility study of the Nghi Son oil refinery cum petrochemical project in the central coastal province of Thanh Hoa and is urgently seeking a partner to finalise the detailed report on the feasibility study as well as other procedural steps.

The Phu My-Thu Duc oil pipeline steering board has been finalising the overall budget estimate and begun ground-clearance to start construction soon.
