Vietnam, Israel Tighten Trade Cooperation

An agreement on economic and trade cooperation was signed on August 25 by Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mai Ai Truc and Israeli Minister of National Infrastructures Eliezer Sandberg during the latter’s visit to Vietnam from August 25 to 27.

The two sides hoped that the agreement will create a legal framework for a multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries in the near future. The visit also aims to introduce Israeli experiences to Vietnam in the fields of natural resources management, water treatment and agriculture and information technology, said the minister.

Vietnam’s export value to Israel stood at more than US$22.6 million in 2003 with the major items of coffee, tea, rice, seafood, garments and textile products and electronic accessories, fibre and imports were valued at US$21.6 million.
