After a school year full of intense study and examinations, summer holidays are the time for students to play, join entertainment and sports activities, go on excursions or learn a new language. Many foreign language programmes are organised with extracurricular activities that stimulate students to acquire new knowledge while practicing language skills.
Dr Nguyen Minh Duc, Head of Early Children Development Research Institute, said: When a child is six years old, he enters a new learning environment. He shifts from a playing and learning environment to a schedule-based studying environment. Hence, during summer holidays, parents should not press their children to study but find out new pastime activities. For that reason, playing - learning methodology is very useful for young kids to relax, play and study.
Dr Duc said many parents choose summer English for their kids to stimulate language thinking. They are recommended to pay attention to the strong points of English centres or clubs with teaching methodologies they love most. This approach is proven to be more effective than hiring tutors.
Gavan Iacono, General Director of Language Link Vietnam, said that as children are lively and find it hard to concentrate and memorise, the best way to stimulate children to study English is free learning programmes. Music and games also excite kids.
At Language Link, children learn short stories, sings, and cartoon and word games. This encourages children to love studying and makes them confident in speaking English. Notably, they will learn English along with their favourite subjects like Inkspray writing, drama and choir. This is the way Language Link encourages its students to show their talent. This programme is designed for students ages 5-15, with respected teachers like paedagogist Jim Brennan, dramatist Dana Peterson, and music teacher Dang Chau Anh.
