Lao Airlines is the national airline and the only airline of Laos country, with customer reviews increasingly asserted it as one of the high-class airline service providers in the flight system of the 4 countries of the region, including routes to China, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, with good quality service and competitive prices.
On the occasion of Vietnam and Lao celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and specific friendship and solidarity, as well as to learn more about Lao Airline offices in Vietnam so far, Vietnam Business Forum had an interview with Ms Olazone Phongsavath, General Manager of Lao Airlines, branch office in Hanoi. Doan Tien reports.
Please tell us about the key role of Lao Airlines office and the significance of its operation in Vietnam so far?
Lao Airlines office (Lao Airlines) was established in Hanoi on August 18th 1995 by the license of Ministry of Trade of Vietnam. Our office operates as a liaison office, doing market research and promoting the implementation of contracts signed between Lao Airlines and Vietnam Airlines. Besides, we promote links between the two airlines in Laos and Vietnam for more stable growth together. After 15 years of the presence of our office in Vietnam, we can say that we are very proud of the contribution of Lao Airlines as the role is a strategic partnership with Vietnam Airlines that not only serves passengers from Vietnam to Laos and back, but also to all countries in the Asia – Pacific where we have established routes along the current flights.
How many weekly flights from Vietnam through Laos and back and what is considered the advantages of Lao Airlines for its ability to compete with more diversified aviation services in the region?
Lao Airlines now has up to two flights per day to serve passengers from Vietnam to Lao and back, along with the combination with two flights of Vietnam Airlines, a total of four flights per day to serve for passengers between the two countries travelling for work or leisure. Compared to previously when geographical conditions of the two countries, despite being close neighbours, made travel relatively difficult, in the current context Lao Airlines has done the job to help people go between the two countries much easier.
Recently Lao Airlines has put into use two new Airbus A320 aircraft to transport passengers between Vietnam and Laos, replacing the small airplane which used before. It is seen as an affirmation that Lao Airlines has always intended to meet the needs of social development and also to build a good image in the eyes of its customers, not only in terms of facilities, but also the quality of service of the Lao Airlines. Therefore, in recent years, Lao Airlines has has received many international airline medals such as Frankfurt Award in 2007 with memorable name as: Arch of Europe, and Paris 2008 “Airlines International Star For Leadership in Quality Award” , “Quality Summit Award” of New York Airlines in 2009 ....
Could you share with readers more about the goal-oriented development of Lao Airlines in the future, especially in 2012 while celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam - Laos?
First of all, I would like to be the representative for all members of Lao Airlines to express many deep and sincerely thanks to the leaders of the Party and Vietnam Government who have always enthusiastically supported and created favourable conditions for activities developing Lao Airlines in Vietnam. The policy for development of Lao Airlines is: Model service - Impressive - Warm - Safety. We considered this the orientation for continued development and it also will confirm the status of Lao Airlines in the future.
