During 35 years operating in the transportation sector, SaigonBus has experienced both advantages and difficulties. The company, however, has developed appropriate strategies and reaped success, becoming one of the leading transportation enterprises in the city. It is making endeavours to establish a strong brand name while investing in CNG-run buses to minimise pollution and save energy.
SaigonBus is now managing 713 buses running on 34 routes in the city. Mr Nguyen Tuan Viet, Deputy General Director of SaigonBus, says that in addition to provision of public transportation service by bus, the company also signs contracts to provide transportation service for inbound and outbound tourism, organizes tours, expands collaboration in car trading, trades fuel, and spare parts, expands factories for maintenance and assembling of buses as well as establishes a center for training and testing drivers of two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles. Moreover, SaigonBus is a reliable partner in supplying pick-up service for staff of domestic and international enterprises. Diversifying businesses has brought about good business results. Total turnover of the company in 2011 is VND787 billion.
So far, SaigonBus has made investment in 21 CNG-run buses, becoming the very first enterprise to make such investment in Ho Chi Minh City and in Vietnam. These buses help to minimise environmental pollution and save energy, which is in line with the strategy for protection of national environment and the law on economical and effective usage of energy issued by the National Assembly.
In addition, SaigonBus equips their buses with such utility devices as GPS itinerary monitoring device, automatic ticket selling system and camera system to ensure security… Drivers and supporting staff are provided with new uniform and trained to improve sense of responsibility, observance of regulations and attitude to serve passengers.
While focusing on its development, SaigonBus pays special attention to taking good care of its staff’s life. Considering personnel a precious resource and priceless asset, SaigonBus has taken a special interest in HR development. The company is currently home to 220 employees with university and college degress and ten ones with Msc degrees in transportation and auto mechanics.
Reaching sustainable development, improving service quality and creating favourable conditions for passengers traveling by bus are political missions of the company.
