For nearly 20 years of construction and development, Nam Hoa Trading & Production Corp has quickly confirmed its leading position in manufacturing wooden toys for children. Its products feature high quality, diverse designs, safety and highly educational characteristics attractive to all customers in the country and the world. Vietnam Business Forum has an interview with General Director Ngo Van Hoa on this success. My Ngoc reports.
Could you brief us on the main operations of Nam Hoa as well as current staple products strongly consumed in the market and widely trusted by customers?
Founded in 1993, Nam Hoa is a top Vietnam manufacturer and exporter of wooden toys and furniture for children. Currently, 95 percent of the company’s products are exported to Japan, South Korea, the United States, and the EU, while only 5 percent are distributed domestically to major retail shops and supermarkets.
Nam Hoa-branded wooden toys are appreciated by partners and customers because they meet the criteria of quality, safety and high educational characteristics. All products are made from rubber wood, poplar wood, beech wood and others, imported and processed by modern technology to meet basic international standards. We also use artificial woods like MDF and plywood certified to provide absolute safety for children. Particularly, Nam Hoa-branded smart and safe wooden toys are designed according to surveys and psychological research, and classified according to education, age and characteristics so parents can easily choose and help their children develop in a comprehensive way.
Nam Hoa wooden toys have won great trust from Vietnamese and international consumers. In 2011, its total revenues reached US$5.6 million. In the first quarter of 2012 alone, the value was US$1.3 million, a significant rise over initial estimates.
How has your company taken care of its workers quality of life?
Nam Hoa now has more than 585 qualified and skilled workers. In its heyday, it employed 858 people. Particularly, 60 percent of workers have worked for the company more than four years, 30 percent have worked for 10 years or more, and there are a small number of young workers in the training phase. Understanding that “people are invaluable property," we always provide support and preferential treatment for our workers. For immigrant workers, the company has policies to support food and housing rent to strengthen their attachment to the company.
What keeps customers satisfied with Nam Hoa products?
We always keep our commitment to quality and delivery for both domestic and international customers. Nam Hoa is proud to keep its traditional customers over the past 20 years.
At present, Nam Hoa has obtained the ISO9001:2008 certificate for quality management from TUV Rheinland. Hence, we manufacture our products according to committed ISO processes. We always sincerely welcome both positive and negative feedback from partners and customers to have a better recognition, assessment and solutions to improve products and services.
How much attention has Nam Hoa paid to building corporate culture and corporate social responsibility?
Social and community development activities have become the good tradition of Nam Hoa. Every year, we fund housing construction and present gifts to the poor, the elderly and the lonely, support kindergarten construction, and provide relief for flood victims.
