After 36 years of construction and development, the face of Dry Cell and Storage Battery Joint Stock Company  (Pinaco) has changed a lot and its strengths have been powered up during the course of national development and international integration. Deputy General Director Nguyen Bao Hanh of Pinaco, affirmed: “The greatest achievements Pinaco currently possesses are the professional and dedicated staff and the absolute trust and sincere support of customers. We always appreciate and uphold what we have and constantly work harder to be more deserved to their expectations."
Pinaco officially went into operation in 1976. It has a very special position as it is the unique domestic battery brand to complete on an equal ground with foreign rivals. It went public in 2004 and listed its shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) with ticker symbol of PAC. From this significant milestone, Pinaco has made impressive growth and secured a strong foothold on the market. Starting from a small production facility, Pinaco now runs three battery factories and a dry cell factory, which turn out 210 million dry cells and over 1.4 million kWh of batteries (used for cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, lamps, etc). Annual growth exceeds 10 percent. Its publicly traded shares are trusted by investors and shareholders. PAC shares were voted a “golden Vietnamese share” together with 18 other blue-chips. The company also won Trusted Securities Gold Cup and Vietnamese Leading Joint Stock Company Title. In 2011, its total revenue reached VND1,979 billion and pre-tax profit was VND111 billion.
Especially, in April 2011, Pinaco officially inaugurated and put into operation in Dong Nai Battery Factory 2, its largest and most modern battery factory to date. The factory is the pride and the launch pad for Pinaco to develop to a new plane. Together with modern production facilities, equipment and technology, Pinaco has built a strong nationwide distribution network with more than 13,000 outlets and 180 agents in all 64 cities and provinces. Its batteries branded Dong Nai, Pinaco and JP are accounting for over 50 percent of the domestic market share and are being exported to the Middle East, Brunei, Singapore and Hong Kong. Besides, its dry cells trademarked Con O (Eagle), Super and Xpower also keep over 50 percent of the domestic market share thanks to reasonable prices. Pinaco also supplies RO3 and RO6 batteries for leading electronics companies with factories in Vietnam like Samsung Vina, Daewoo, Hanel and Belco.
Seeing environmental protection as a vital factor, Pinaco’s factories are applying cleaner production programme for years. Speaking of benefits of using cleaner production programme, Mr Hanh said “Cleaner production helps polish the image of Pinaco, increase profits, enhance productivity and particularly reduce harmful wastes and gas emissions. It powers up Pinaco’s involvement in environmental protection.” As soon as it started operations, the board of management determined to build Dong Nai Battery Factory 2 into the most modern facility of its kind in the country. All gas, water and solid wastes are treated completely and synchronously.
After equitisation, the most important goal of Pinaco is to maintain harmony of interests for investors, employees and customers. To investors, the company always provides transparent information about its operations and ensures long-term interests of shareholders. To employees, Pinaco always respects and applies rational treatment policies to make them feel secure and motivate them to devote to the company. Their incomes are determined and gauged by their performances. With continuous sales growth in recent years, incomes of employees increase steadily. The firm also places a premium on building up a strong workforce to promote achievements attained by senior generations. For that reason, Pinaco attaches great importance to human resource training and offers opportunities for young employees to have higher career profiles. With the right human resource strategy, Pinaco creates a very strong bond with workers. They are always ready to travel with and shoulder responsibilities with the company. This is a secret Pinaco uses to grow up with powerful vitality as now even in the times of economic slowdown.

Together with production and business fronts, Pinaco very actively takes part in social security activities. This helps Pinaco brand name shine more brightly and live eternally in the heart of consumers. To adapt to new market trend and respond to new challenges, Pinaco is restructuring its operations. With respect to human factors, the company continues supplementing high-level human resources and guiding its employees to cope with new circumstances.
