Nguyen An Ninh Secondary School is a good performing school in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. During the past academic year, the school attained many achievements in teaching and learning. These results came from the constant efforts of all the staff.
Nguyen An Ninh Secondary School, formerly known as Trung My Tay Secondary School 2, opened on September 1, 2004 with investment capital of nearly VND12 billion, funded by the city’s budgets and land compensations received from Trans-Asia Road project. The school is located in Residential Zone 5, Trung My Tay Ward, where many immigrants and their children and soldiers of the Military Zone 7 are living. Children here have good discipline while teachers are always seeking innovative methodologies.
Since its establishment, the school has always attained outstanding achievements in teaching and learning. Learning quality is guaranteed. 95 percent or more of students finish the school year with pass results onwards while 70.36 percent have good performances. The school also has achieved many accomplishments in the 2011 - 2012 school year. Specifically, 64 out of 89 teachers (71.91 percent) were excellent school-level teachers and 12 teachers (13.48 percent) were excellent district-level teachers. One teacher won the Gold Chalk title at the district contest while 14 others earned the merit at grassroots levels. 28 students won district excellence contests and nine succeed in city contests. In physical contents, the school collected 47 gold medals, 51 silver medals and 59 bronze medals at district contents, one gold medal, two silver medals and four bronze medals at city level. Up to 99.4 percent went on to the next forms.
The above achievements are attributed to a dedicated teaching force. Principal Nguyen Thi Kim Chi said the school now has 75 teachers above the standard and 14 teachers on the standard. Applying the teacher assessment in accordance with Circular 30/BGDDT/2009 on secondary teacher standards, in the 2011-2012 school year, 85 teachers were rated excellent, four were classified good and none were substandard.
Every teacher and school staff member has a high sense of self-study and self-training to improve professional and political levels and responsibilities for school development. The number of excellent teachers at the grassroots level and the quality of training are on the rise year after year. Individual and collective initiatives and experience are appraised by a specialised evaluation board before being applied for better learning and studying quality.
One benefit that not all schools have is the constant care and support of local governments, and particularly consents of parents. Thanks to these valuable supports, the school has a synchronous infrastructure system for better teaching and learning.
With its tireless efforts in the past time, Nguyen An Ninh School has consistently obtained awards and achievements in teaching and learning. It has received a lot of commendations from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Certificate of Appreciation from the Prime Minister. Particularly, it was bestowed the Third-grade Labour Order in 2011.
Sharing on future operating directions, Ms Chi said her school will continue upgrading facilities, building subject-themed classrooms (technology, music, art, etc.), promoting the sense of unity, applying IT to renovate teaching and learning methods, renovating examination and assessment methods, and applying management expertise, enhancing political and ideological education for staff, and strengthen the career morality of teachers.
