Hanoi intends to build around 20 parks on a total land area of 970 ha in the districts of Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Tu Liem, Gia Lam and Dong Anh by 2030.
The Hanoi Construction Planning Institute has recently proposed a draft planning on the development of a system of parks, flower gardens and lakes in Hanoi till 2030, with a vision towards 2050.
Besides building parks, from now to 2015, 44 existing lakes in Hanoi will be improved.
The Institute has also put forward a solution to preserve and upgrade existing parks and lakes as well as make the best use of land areas of inner industrial areas after they are moved to suburbs.
The capital city now has 280.17 ha of parks and 1,146 ha of lakes. According to the plan, by 2030, the parks and trees target in the city will be around 4-4.5 meter square per person.
