JACA Vietnam Launches Media Awards 2012
JICA Vietnam recently launched the Media Awards 2012. This is the third Media Contest held by JICA Vietnam which aims to honor active contribution of reporters to the development of Japan – Vietnam cooperation as well as to the enhancement of public awareness of JICA activities in Vietnam.
JICA Vietnam Media Awards were first launched in 2010 as an event to mark the 15th anniversary of JICA presence in Vietnam. Since then, 6 reporters have won prizes which provided them opportunities to learn more about Japan’s land and people during field trips.
In event of 2011, JICA Vietnam received over 40 articles from 23 News and Media organizations across the country.
According to the regulation, all journalists who are working for Vietnamese media are eligible to take part in the contest by sending their news articles to JICA Vietnam Office. The submitted articles should be created and published on appropriate media starting from October 1st 2011.
The Media Award 2012 focuses on topics relating to Japan’s ODA projects and the impacts to people’s lives and the society; human stories on JICA related persons: office staff, experts, volunteers...
“In this year contest, in addition to news and current affairs relating to ODA, we pay special attention to the human-aspect of the ODA related story,“ said Mr TSUNO Motonori, JICA Chief representative in Vietnam. “We encourage reporters to find out stories about Japanese volunteers who are working side by side with Vietnamese colleagues in many areas such as education, health, agriculture, rural development, environment, supporting industry development… in various regions throughout Vietnam”, he added.
Submission of articles will be accepted until October 12th 2012. JICA Vietnam will review all submissions and select 1 finalist. The Award Winner will receive JICA Vietnam Certificates and be awarded a field trip to Japan.
