Media Campaign on the Plastic Bag Harms

The media campaign “Plastic bags - environmental and health hazards," funded by the Nordic Assistance to Vietnam (NAV), took place in Hue City, Thua Thien - Hue province on October 23. The campaign will run through December 2012, aiming at raising public awareness of harmful effects of plastic bags on environment and human health.

 

The province will broadcast the campaign on radio, organise rubbish collection in some areas, especially Dong Ba, Tay Loc and An Cuu markets, and host talks with junior school students.

 

On this occasion, about 4,000 students from middle schools in Hue City of and Quang Dien district join the campaign and 12,000 women in target areas will be guided to use cloth bags, paper bags and plastic baskets to go to market to reduce nylon bags in daily life.
