On December 12, 2012 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a report assessing competitiveness of 10 economic fields: Pharmaceutical distribution, life insurance, pay TV, shipping, advertising, truck, detergent, paper, vegetable oil, and construction glass.

This is an important activity of the project "Capacity building for Vietnam Competition Authority to strengthen market economy institution in Vietnam" funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) through the Beyond WTO Programme.
The report assesses competition in the view of competition laws, policies and criteria used by international organisations in developed countries. According to this approach, the report reviews and assesses market scale, barriers to market entry and withdrawal, market structure and competitive status on the market. Thereby, it identifies anticompetitive behaviours in specific industries.

This is the second time the Vietnam Competition Authority announces the 10-industry competitive assessment report and receives strong support and appreciation.
