The report on "Decentralised management in the context of international economic integration" was published at a recent conference in Hanoi. This is the result of the research project called "Maximising integration benefits through effective decentralisation of socio-economic development plans" funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) through the Beyond the WTO Programme (B-WTO).

The decentralisation research pinpointed seven areas: Establishment and management of overall socio-economic development plans, attraction and management of foreign direct investment (FDI), public investment and infrastructure development, public services (health, education), land management, industrial zone management, and assessment of decentralised areas. This work was based on survey results in eight cities and provinces, namely An Giang, Can Tho, Kon Tum, Da Nang, Hanoi, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, as well as practical decentralisation experience in some European countries.
