Greater “Tastes of Europe” Campaign to Foster Business Relations in Food Sector

On the 23nd and 23rd of April in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City respectively, the EU will hold two seminars on Geographical Indications (GIs) systems. In Hanoi, European and Vietnamese officials, producer associations and experts on geographical indications will exchange views on their respective GI systems and discuss the advantages of registering their products as GIs within external markets, especially in the EU market. These discussions will be joined by Vietnamese GI producers including Phu Quoc fish extract, Buon Me Thuot coffee, Lang Son Star Aniseed and Bao Lam Persimmon and European GI producers such as Parmigiano Reggiano (Italy), Arroz de Valencia (Spain), and Champagne (France). On a business oriented purpose, in HCMC, Vietnamese food professionals are invited to learn how the EU GIs system and the respective quality labels can be an added value to a product upon its commercialization, protect product names from imitation and help consumers by giving them information on the unique character of these products. Furthermore different EU producers will present their GI products to the audience.
 
Throughout the three-day FHV event, top Vietnamese chef will present cooking demonstration to suggest Vietnamese visitors how to prepare recipes with European ingredients and to make best use of high-quality European agricultural food products and beverages in their diets. Visitors at the fair will also have the opportunity to enjoy some of the European finest culinary at food tastings. In addition, a number of European producers will conduct several workshops accompanied with tastings, providing comprehensive information on the characteristics and specific production methods of meat and dairy products, as well as extra virgin olive oil and wine from the European Union.
