Eight Innovative Ideas Funded
Eight innovative and feasible ideas were funded for implementation as part of the "Vietnam Women's Innovation Day 2013" themed "Economic empowerment and capacity building for women".
The Vietnam Women's Innovation Day 2013 aims to honour and support innovative ideas towards empowering and enhancing the economic capacity of Vietnamese women, as guided by its theme: Promoting the development of women entrepreneurs (women who own or run companies or business households); Empowering women in business and production; and Creating good and sustainable jobs for women.
The programme was launched in March 2013 with three main activities: Seeking and financing innovative ideas capable of empowering and enhancing the economic capacity of women; Honouring innovative products of women in economic development through exhibition and rewarding of typified innovations; and Organising events honouring women with good economic activities, exchange and experience-sharing forums.
The programme is co-organised by the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU), the World Bank (WB) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Vietnam (UN Women). It is co-financed by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the Irish Development Agency, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Unilever Company.
