The Seminar on "B - WTO Programme: Orientation results and future” recently took place in Hanoi. This is one of the important activities of B-WTO Programme, with the aim of sharing achievements of the programme and discussing current challenges of economic reform and integration of Vietnam.

From January 2007 to March 2008, the B-WTO Programme supported the formation of the Government Action Programme, specified it into action programmes of ministries, agencies and localities, as well as experimented deployment mechanism for Multilateral Trust Fund to support the carrying out of the Government Action Programme. The second phase of the B-WTO Programme, started since September 2009, aimed to realise priority policies in the Government Action Programme.

Vo Tri Thanh, Deputy Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management, said that the entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has helped Vietnam to see more clearly the close relationship of domestic reform with international integration. He said only domestic reform can create the conditions for Vietnam to take advantage of opportunities that integration brings in and reduce macroeconomic instability risks.

In the past four years, 48 projects have been implemented, of which 23 projects have been used to perfect the market economic mechanism, six projects have been used to address social and economic challenges against the countryside in the process of integration, 11 projects have been carried out to improve integration management and coordination, and eight projects have been carried out to realise local action plans.
