PM Nguyen Tan Dung on December 2 received US Trade Representative Michael B.G. Froman.
Welcoming Mr Froman’s working visit to Vietnam, PM Dung stressed that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a crucial foundation, especially for Vietnam and the US, to promote their cooperation.
As a member of the World Trade Organization, Vietnam always implements the commitments she has made, actively follows the market economy, and integrates deeply and widely into the world’s economy for a rapid, sustainable development, the PM asserted.
To achieve the goals of TPP negotiations, PM Dung confirmed that Vietnam will closely work with the US in this process, hoping that the US side will consider Vietnam’s crucial benefits towards making an agreement balance in terms of interests for all country members.
The Vietnamese leader expected that the US will consider Vietnam’s real conditions, especially that in the garment and footwear sectors.
The successful negotiation of the TPP will allow the cooperative relations between the US and Vietnam to thrive in the fields of economics, trade and investment, the US Trade Representative initiated.
Applauding Vietnam’s efforts in TPP negotiations, Mr. Froman said he believes that Vietnam and the US will reach specific agreements in the future.
