Finance Ministry Proposes Lowering Milk Prices
The Ministry of Finance has urged competent authorities to keep the lid on dairy prices for children under the age of 6. This agency has asked the municipal/provincial departments of finance to review price contents when milk companies submit and tell them to have measures to reduce costs to lower selling prices. Dairy firms were requested not to hike prices when price components are not changed.
In addition, the ministry asked provincial/municipal departments of finance to coordinate with tax and customs authorities and related local agencies to intensify pricing law compliance of dairy companies. Acts of violation will be severely punished and made public on mass media.
Earlier, some information channels reported milk being sold at 5-9 times that of import prices due to inconsistent labelling of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance. Therefore, milk companies arbitrarily increased selling prices without any official registration with authorities. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health to make reports on this matter.
