Mekong Delta Exports 5.85 Tonnes of Rice

The Steering Committee for the Southwest Region said Mekong Delta provinces exported 5.6 million tonnes of rice from the beginning of the year to December 15. The region is expected to sell 250,000 tonnes in the remaining days of 2014, thus bringing the yearly shipment to 5.85 million tonnes, valued at US$2.9 billion, as much as in 2013.

 

Asian and African markets purchased 83 percent of Mekong Delta rice while Americas, Europe and Oceania imported the rest.
