Agro-Forestry-Fishery Exports Rise Slightly in H1
Vietnam pocketed US$15.05 billion from shipping agro-forestry-fishery products abroad in the first half of 2016, presenting a year-on-year growth of 5.4 per cent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The MARD reported that overseas shipment of agricultural products valued US$ 7.32 billion, up 5.1 per cent against the same period last year.
Aquatic exports were estimated at US$3.07 billion, a year-on-year growth of 3.8 per cent. Meanwhile, export turnover of forestry products was US$3.33 billion, representing a year-on-year decline of 0.1 per cent.
Generally, exportation of coffee, pepper, peanut, and aquaculture increased in both volume and value. However, overseas sale of rice, furniture, and cassava declined.
Especially, coffee export witnessed the sharpest growth with 39.8 per cent in volume and 17.6 per cent in value in comparison with the same period last year.
However, export turnover of rice dropped dramatically by 9.8 per cent in volume and 5.9 per cent in value. Vietnam shipped 359,000 tonnes of rice in June for US$163 million. In the first half, rice export amounted to 2.69 million tonnes and US$1.21 billion.
