Visa International, Banks Meet to Boost E-Payment in Vietnam

On March 15, the Vietnam Bank Card Society under the Vietnam Bankers' Association (VNBA) and Visa International held a conference in Hanoi to seek measures for the development of electronic payments in Vietnam.

The conference was first aimed at raising public awareness of the benefits of e-payment in order to develop a rapid and effective national e-payment system

So far, there are about 10,000 card acceptance points and 773 ATMs across the country. The number of international credit cards issued in Vietnam rose by 49 per cent annually during the past decade to reach 125,000 cards at the end of last year. However, the figure remains low relative to the potential of the Vietnamese market.
