GDC Signs MOU on Cooperation with UK Border Force

On October 2, 2019, the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation with the UK Border Force (UKBF). The two sides will focus on cooperation, operational support, training and capacity building, professional expertise and knowledge exchange, equipment supply, expertise support, and scientific and technological exchange for customs. Besides, the MOU is the basis for establishing business communication channels that will bring real benefits to both parties. This event will help further strengthen Vietnam - U.K. cooperation in all fields.

In the long term, in order to create the necessary and adequate basis for customs cooperation between the United Kingdom and Vietnam, the two sides are now finalizing the Welcome Note of Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on customs cooperation and administrative support to expedite future negotiations. GDC’s partners in the U.K., including UKBF and HMRC, will work closely to negotiate this important agreement.
