Vitranschart Receives Largest Ship in Vietnam

 

Vietnam Sea Transport and Chartering Co. (Vitranschart) yesterday received a 22,000-DWT cargo vessel, baptized VTC Light, in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

This is the largest ship with very modern equipment in Vietnam so far.

 

The VTC Light costing US$17.2 million is built by Japan and transferred to Brunei for necessary procedures before docking at Vietnam.

 

The VTC Light is 160m long and 25m high and is powered with strong engines to reach nearly 17 nautical miles an hour.

 

The ship is set to carry 20,500 tons of rice to Cuba from Ho Chi Minh City's Nha Rong Wharf today.

 

According to the Vitranschart website, the company now has 13 ships.
