Vietnam to Become Main Tourist Market of Malaysia

Vietnam will become a major tourist market for Malaysia in the coming year, said a representative from the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Agency in Hanoi at a seminar on updating the latest information about Malaysian tourism and new products of Genting Corporation, which was recently held in Hanoi.

 

The number of Vietnamese visiting Malaysia increased from 12,400 in 2003 to 33,000 in 2004, or an increase of 16.6 per cent. The number of Malaysian visitors to Vietnam increased to 42,000 people, up by 100 per cent against 2003.

 

The number of international and local visitors to Genting has seen a high year-on-year increase. Genting is an entertainment city consisting of a chain of hotels. The number of hotel rooms in Genting increased from 4,100 to 8,000. The city will have 10,000 rooms in 2006 when the second tower of the First World Hotel is completed. It will become the largest hotel complex in the world.

 

Representatives from travel agencies in Vietnam said that Genting attracted visitors not only with its beautiful scenes, luxurious hotels and restaurants, but also with excellent services with busy shopping centres and entertainment facilities.

 

Representatives of Vietnamese tourism said that Genting attracted them with new products, education and health tourism.
