Mid-term of Consultative Group Meeting to be Held

The mid-term meeting of the Consultative Group will be held in Can Tho on June 2 and 3, 2005, with the participation of a Government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan and Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc and 50 bilateral and multi-lateral donors to Vietnam. The meeting will discuss socio-economic issues in the first half of this year and plans for the final half, the development of socio-economic development plans, such as the Vietnam’s strategic programme on poverty reduction. The meeting will also discuss reforms and a roadmap of selected fields for reform, activities following the Paris summit on aid and harmonisation of procedures, bird flu and the Vietnamese Government’s efforts to combat the disease.

Vietnam Business Forum, in an activity combined with the Consultative Group Meeting will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1 by the International Finance Corporation and the Ministry of Planning and Investment. At the forum, reports of working groups will concentrate on infrastructure, tax, banking and capital market. The forum will hold discussions with the Government on the Unique Enterprise Law, the Common Investment Law, the Anti-corruption Law and the amended Decree 105 on the implementation of the Competition Law.
