Vietnam Targets Stateside Exports of US$6.23Bln in 2005
Vietnam is likely to rake in US$6.23 billion from exports to the US this year, up 20 per cent against last year making the US the largest export market of Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Trade.
The country’s key exports to the US this year will include garments (US$2.8 billion), seafood (US$800 million), wooden products (US$800 million), footwear products (US$580 million), crude oil (US$250 million), fruits and vegetables (US$200 million), coffee (US$150 million), machinery and equipment (US$150 million), plastic products (US$50 million) and handicrafts (US$50 million).
To boost exports to America, particularly North America, the Ministry of Trade has worked out 27 trade promotion programs.
Vietnam earned US$1.13 billion from exports to the US in the first quarter of this year with the main exports being garments, footwear, woodworks, seafood, crude, coffee and cashew nuts.
