Intel Backs Development of Vietnam E-Cities
Intel Corp. and the Vietnamese government are expected to sign scores of agreements on Intel’s long-term support for Vietnam’s development of IT and e-cities during the Intel chief’s visit to the country next week.
During his visit to Vietnam on June 14-15, Intel President and CEO Paul S. Otelini will hold meetings with Vietnamese cabinet leaders, sources said.
He will also attend a launch ceremony in Hanoi for a youth campaign which includes the education of basic computer skills in rural areas.
Vietnam is among the countries into which Intel, the world's largest chipmaker, is looking to invest by setting up a production plant, a company high-ranking official told a local newspaper in March.
"Vietnam meets every single condition Intel demands for investment," said Tran Trong Phuc, chief executive of Intel Vietnam, a subsidiary of the California-based global chip giant.
