Vietnam's Cement Demand to Reach 46Mln Tonnes in 2010
According to the development plan for the cement industry approved by Government, the demand for Vietnamese cement will reach 29 million tons this year, 46 million tons in 2010, 62 million tons in 2015 and 68 to 70 million tons in 2020, said Dr. Nguyen Quang Cung, Building Material Department (Ministry of Construction). Thus, Vietnam is a rather big consumer market in South East Asia.
Throughout the country, there are 13 reverter furnace and 54 blast furnace cement factories with a total design capacity of about 23 million tons per year. Each year, about 4 million tons of clinker is imported to make up for the lack of cement in construction. In fact, the grinding capacity of over 40 independent grinding stations and others is completely unable to produce the needed quantity of cement. The cement industry is building 21 factories with a total capacity of 30 million tons per year and converting some blast furnace cement factories into small capacity reverter furnaces to reduce clinker imports and produce enough clinker for the country.
In recent years, the Vietnamese cement industry has invested in technological lines to manufacture reverter furnace by modern dry methods using a heat exchange tower, a pre- burning system and freezing clinker. Technical standards ensure betterenvironmental sanitation. However, it is necessary to keep improving under developed technology, raise the cement mark, diversify cement kinds for construction and meeting environmental requirements.
