Vietnam, Malaysia Hold Gathering to Hunt for Business Chances
Small-medium enterprise circles of Vietnam and Malaysia held a conference on February 7 in Hanoi to seek more business opportunities, especially in the commercial field.
The early meeting this year would boost the trade activities among the two Southeast Asian nations, which often have had limited trade relation since they have significantly similar products.
In 2005 two-way trade reached nearly US$2 billion, up 20 per cent against the value of 2004. Of the figure, Vietnam exported more than US$900 million worth of goods, increasing significantly by 50 per cent. The country now is Malaysia’s 18th largest buyer and 23rd largest exporter to the country.
To date, Malaysia poured US$1.481 billion in 177 projects in Vietnam, including US$818 million already disbursed. It ranks 9th biggest foreign investor in Vietnam and is the third biggest investor among ASEAN member countries.
