Toyota Vietnam Achieves 700,000 Vehicle Production Milestone

Toyota Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd (TMV) officially produced its 700,000th vehicle, becoming the first company in Vietnam to reach this output milestone. This achievement marks an important step in its development history as Toyota prepares to celebrate 30 years in Vietnam in September 2025.

In 1995, Toyota Vietnam began constructing its factory in Vinh Phuc, which commenced operations in 1996. In May 1999, Toyota proudly became the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to receive the ISO 14001 Certificate for its Environmental Management System - a certification it has continuously maintained and enhanced. In addition, Toyota Vietnam was the first carmaker to implement a complete production process comprising five stages: stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and quality inspection when its stamping plant officially began operations in 2003.

By applying the Toyota Production System (TPS) along with stable management methods and a scientific management system, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) with a high level of autonomy, Toyota Vietnam’s factories always aim to enhance production quality and provide a wide range of products for various customer needs. During 30 years of operation, its strategically manufactured and assembled models such as the Vios, Innova, Fortuner, and Veloz Cross have consistently ranked among the best-selling cars in the market, contributing to Toyota’s success in Vietnam.

Thanks to those tireless efforts, Toyota Vietnam is proud to be the only manufacturer outside Japan to receive the Good Factory Award 2024 from the Japan Management Association.

One of Toyota Vietnam's commitments to contributing to the development of the automobile industry is to increase the localization rate by manufacturing components right at its factories, attracting leading suppliers to invest in Vietnam, and developing domestic vendors. In 2018, Toyota established a specialized vendor support department to help Vietnamese suppliers improve management capacity, enhance labor productivity, and raise product quality, enhance labor productivity and raise product quality. Currently, Toyota Vietnam has 60 suppliers, including 13 Vietnamese, with over 1,000 localized products. In addition, in 2020, Toyota Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in support of domestic automobile parts producers” to boost their capacity and strengthen the connection between domestic parts manufacturers and automobile assemblers.

By late February 2025, Toyota had expanded its dealership/branch system to 86 in 49 provinces and cities, selling more than 990,000 cars (including Lexus) to customers and providing services for more than 20 million customers.

Congratulating Toyota Vietnam on successfully manufacturing the 700,000th vehicle as well as its 30-year presence and achievements in Vietnam and Vinh Phuc province, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, hoped that Toyota Vietnam will continue to closely follow the policies and orientations of the Vietnamese Government for the automobile industry and Vietnam's commitments to COP26, have a suitable conversion roadmap to catch up with the hybrid and electric vehicle revolution and move towards the production of environmentally friendly smart vehicles. The company will soon build its new headquarters in Vinh Phuc province as planned, research and expand investment to make new car models and strategic car models. It will coordinate with relevant local bodies to implement Plan 34 of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee with Toyota Vietnam on cooperation and support for domestic auto parts companies in Vinh Phuc.

He affirmed that the Vinh Phuc provincial government is committed to continuing its efforts to improve the investment and business environment, facilitating Toyota Vietnam's projects to be implemented smoothly, and supporting the company’s upcoming development. Toyota Vietnam presented its 700,000th car to the Vinh Phuc provincial government.
