Thai Nguyen is promoting tourism to attract 6 million visitors in 2025, with a focus on Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism and experts in industrial parks.

Speaking at the conference on Thai Nguyen tourism promotion 2025 in Hanoi, Mr. Le Ngoc Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that Thai Nguyen province boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, with over 1,000 relics, 300 craft villages, and a diverse range of unique “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) offerings. It is also an ideal destination for natural, community and experiential tourism. Thai Nguyen is especially famous for its tea heritage, known as “'the finest among Vietnam’s most renowned teas” of Vietnam. Its tea-related tourism products such as “Tea Culture Experience Journey” and tours to famous tea-growing regions such as Tan Cuong, La Bang, Trai Cai and Phu Luong are being promoted.
“Thai Nguyen aims to welcome 6 million visitors in 2025, nearly doubling that of last year. To achieve this, the province will target experts, business guests in industrial parks and MICE visitors. Flexible tourism products, from half a day and one day to two days and one night, will be developed to combine work and experience,” said Ms. Tran Nu Ngoc Anh, Vice President of the Thai Nguyen Tourism Association.

Thai Nguyen is making significant investments in key tourism infrastructure projects, including golf courses and the six-star Flamingo Resort, while also expanding accommodation services and conference centers to accommodate large visitor groups. In addition, historical and industrial tourism is also a new approach for the province to develop tours to steel mills and Yen Binh Industrial Park.
To enhance connectivity and facilitate tourists, Thai Nguyen is also stepping up its transport system. Roads leading to key tourist destinations have been upgraded to reduce travel time from Hanoi and neighboring provinces. The province is also considering the development of new accommodation models, such as high-end homestays and eco-resorts, to meet the growing demand from tourists.
Regarding railways, Mr. Nguyen Chinh Nam, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, underscored the role of Hanoi-Thai Nguyen Railway in tourism development. “We are planning to operate charter trains such as the ‘Tea Ceremony Train’ in conjunction with tourism businesses to provide unique experiences to tourists.” This tourism product will combine rail transport with cultural experiences, helping promote the Thai Nguyen tea brand to more domestic and international tourists.
According to Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Vice President of the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club (HUTC), Thai Nguyen advantageously lies close to Hanoi and has a large international expert community. “With the right approach, the flow of experts in industrial parks will become a potential source of international visitors for Thai Nguyen. However, the province needs to improve the quality of tour guides, accommodation services and tourist safety to meet their needs," he added.

Additionally, Thai Nguyen is strengthening links with other provinces, such as Bac Kan and Lang Son, to create multi-destination tourism routes. “Large-scale sports and cultural events such as marathon tournaments will be a driving force to unlock the local tourism ecosystem,” he said.
Highly appreciating the potential for cooperation, Mr. Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said: “Hanoi and Thai Nguyen are not only linked in terms of planning and economy but also have a strong connection in tourism development. We will continue to work with Thai Nguyen to promote tourism, expand the market and build common tourism products to serve both domestic and international visitors.”
With a clear approach and close cooperation with other parties, Thai Nguyen tourism has gradually affirmed its position on the map of Vietnam tourism and promised to bring unique experiences with strong identities to domestic and foreign visitors.
