In this interview, Mr. Bae Seung Jun - General Director of Shinhan Life Vietnam, shares insights into the company’s innovation journey, strategic direction, and the meaningful contributions for Vietnamese society.

Now in its fifth year of operations, Shinhan Life Vietnam has been growing alongside Ho Chi Minh City’s dynamic development. What products and services does the company currently offer to meet the insurance needs of local residents?
Guided by the vision of “Enhance the Quality of Life through Innovation,” Shinhan Life Vietnam places quality at the core of its business strategies. As the company enters the fifth year of operation, we continue to pursue sustainable growth through steady advancements in both technology and service experience. This includes investing in technology to boost efficiency and focusing on expanding a diverse range of insurance products tailored to customers’ varied needs.
In March 2025, Shinhan Life officially launched a new regular premium universal life product under the commercial name Universal Life Product “Shinhan – An Thinh.” This product offers a solution that merges comprehensive protection with investment benefits and additional rewards, meeting customers' needs for risk prevention and financial security. In addition to risk protection benefits, customers can earn investment returns based on the performance of the Universal Life Fund, with guaranteed interest rates not falling below the minimum guaranteed interest rate stated in the insurance contract. Bonus benefits are also available at specific milestones during the policy term.
In the near future, Shinhan Life plans to introduce affordable insurance solutions, ensuring accessible and suitable financial protection for a broader range of customers. This direction reflects the company’s commitment to supporting clients throughout their journey toward health and financial security.
Beyond its business operations, Shinhan Life has actively engaged in community development efforts in Ho Chi Minh City. Could you share more about the company’s social responsibility initiatives?
In addition to business growth, Shinhan Life remains committed to its “Bring Wonders to Life” journey through various community-focused programs and charitable efforts. Over the past four years, the company has contributed more than VND 2.8 billion to charitable causes, aligning with its goal of integrating business with social responsibility.
A notable example is Shinhan Life’s long-term partnership with Vietnam SOS Children’s Villages, which encompasses a range of activities from donating learning equipment and supporting facility upgrades to providing career orientation programs for teenagers. These efforts have been well-received by the community. In particular, the iLead education program in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, has helped equip young participants with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the job market in the future.
Alongside these long-term initiatives focused on youth development, Shinhan Life also pays special attention to children’s well-being. In addition to ongoing activities such as hospital visits, gift-giving, and meal sponsorships for patients and their families at Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, the company has also provided financial support for treatment costs for pediatric leukemia patients from disadvantaged backgrounds. From 2022 to 2024, this support totaled VND 600 million in medical expense assistance.

Since entering the Vietnamese market, Shinhan Life has aimed to differentiate itself and establish a strong market presence. The company has focused on three key areas over the past three years: product portfolio, operational model, and distribution channels.
Shinhan Life continues to diversify its products and distribution channels, tailoring offerings to meet the needs of specific customer segments. In 2025, the company plans to further analyze market demands to develop products that enhance accessibility and address evolving customer expectations, contributing to a more fulfilling and secure life experience.
Placing quality at the forefront, Shinhan Life prioritizes building a professional, well-trained team of insurance agents. The company believes that well-informed advice from capable agents is essential for helping clients choose suitable financial solutions. This approach reinforces the true value of life insurance and fosters greater public trust in its social benefits.
Currently, Shinhan Life’s service centers and distribution channels are concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. In the future, the company plans to expand nationwide, aiming to increase access to comprehensive insurance products for customers across Vietnam.
