HDBank recently announced its business results for the first six months of 2026, marked by three major achievements: total assets exceeding VND1 quadrillion (US$40 billion); pre-tax profit of more than VND13.2 trillion (US$528 million) with ROE of 25.4%, among the industry's highest; and a stronger presence in international capital markets through a US$721 million syndicated Social Loan and its inaugural BB- credit rating from Fitch Ratings, among the highest assigned to Vietnamese banks.

By the end of the second quarter of 2026, HDBank posted pre-tax profit of VND7.095 trillion (US$283.8 million), bringing its six-month pre-tax profit to VND13.202 trillion (US$528.1 million), up 31% from the same period last year. Total assets reached VND1.045 quadrillion (US$41.8 billion), up 12.3% from the beginning of the year, making HDBank one of Vietnam's banks with assets exceeding VND1 quadrillion.

Strong profitability

HDBank continued to deliver strong operating performance, with ROE of 25.4% and return on assets (ROA) of 2.17%, both among the highest in the banking industry.

Its profitability has remained consistently strong for several consecutive years. Between 2022 and 2025, average ROE was approximately 25%, placing HDBank among the leading privately owned joint stock commercial banks. Profit recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 27.5% during 2021-2025, reflecting a stable and sustainable growth trajectory.

Total operating income reached VND22.684 trillion (US$907.4 million), up 8.8% year over year. Non-interest income rose 23.1%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the bank's revenue diversification strategy. The cost-to-income ratio (CIR) declined to 24.9%, among the lowest among private banks, driven by digital transformation, greater operational automation, and improved productivity.

More than 94% of individual customer transactions are now conducted through digital platforms, while digital channels generate more than 60% of new customers, providing a solid foundation for long-term growth.

Reaching the VND1 quadrillion asset milestone

As of June 30, 2026, HDBank's total assets stood at VND1.045 quadrillion (US$41.8 billion), up 12.3% from the beginning of the year.

Outstanding loans reached VND698.355 trillion (US$27.9 billion), up 18.76%, with lending focused on priority sectors including manufacturing and business, small and medium-sized enterprises, agriculture, infrastructure, supply chains, and essential consumer spending.

With a strong financial foundation, leading operating performance, expanding scale, a broad customer ecosystem, and a growing international presence, HDBank is well positioned to achieve and exceed its 2026 business targets approved by shareholders, including pre-tax profit of more than VND30.1 trillion (US$1.2 billion), up 41% from the previous year.

Total funding reached VND932.437 trillion (US$37.3 billion), up 12.1%, while deposits from corporate and individual customers increased by more than 20%.

HDBank's growth is supported by an integrated ecosystem spanning banking, digital banking, securities, insurance, fund management, consumer finance, as well as aviation, real estate, infrastructure, technology, and education.

Strengthening international position, advancing sustainable development

Alongside business growth, HDBank continues to maintain a strong capital base and safety indicators that rank among the industry's leaders.

Its Basel II capital adequacy ratio (CAR) exceeded 14%, well above the regulatory minimum. The loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) was 72%, while Basel III liquidity indicators, including the liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) and net stable funding ratio (NSFR), both remained above 100%, reflecting solid capital strength and liquidity.

During the second quarter of 2026, Moody's Ratings upgraded HDBank's outlook from Stable to Positive. Around the same time, Fitch Ratings assigned HDBank a BB- credit rating for the first time, placing it among the highest-rated Vietnamese banks.

HDBank also secured a US$721 million international syndicated loan under the Social Loan framework, exceeding the original target by approximately 60%. It is the largest syndicated social loan ever raised by a Vietnamese organization in the international capital market, reflecting strong confidence from global financial institutions in HDBank's governance, growth prospects, and sustainable finance strategy.

The bank is also advancing its US$500 million international green bond issuance program, reinforcing its role in mobilizing capital for green growth, social development, and sustainable finance in line with international standards.
