Haiphong-based Shipyard to Invest US$50.6Mln for Expansion

Thanh Long Co., a subsidiary of the State-run Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corp. (Vinashin), will invest roughly VND800 billion (US$50.6 million) to upgrade its shipbuilding and material supplying capacities.
 
The Haiphong City-based company will spend VND560 billion (US$35 million) to upgrade its existing shipyard in Lam Dong, Thuy Nguyen District, Haiphong.
 
After the upgrade, the shipyard will be capable of building 10,000-ton ships, manufacturing ship components for 300,000-530,000-ton vessels and repairing 7,500-DTW ships.
 
The Thanh Long Co. has recently been admitted to the State-backed Vinashin group.
