The military-run Song Thu Company signed a deal worth EUR16 million to build four tugboats for Netherlands’ Damen Company on April 15.

Under the agreement, Damen will supply designs, technologies and key equipment for the construction of these boats while the Vietnamese shipyard will provide materials and labor.

The four ships with a 5,000-CV engine each are expected to be handed over by August 2007.

The two sides will also discuss the construction of oil spill prevention ships and multifunctional ships for the oil and gas industry.
