The Ministry of Posts and Telecoms (MPT) has recently opened a conference on prevention of international telecommunications charge crimes and postal transportation of contraband goods in Hanoi. The conference follows increasingly serious violations in these fields in Vietnam. Although concerned enterprises have introduced various preventive measures like new regulations for clients registering for postal and telecom services, traffic monitoring processes against mobile phone subscribers and public switched telephone network (PSTN), and data download and upload management against internet subscribers, violators are still able to avoid these measures. They register for prepaid mobile phone service or use fixed line networks registered other enterprises, which cause huge difficulties for monitoring works.

Speaking at the conference, MPT Minister Do Trung Ta required all enterprises continue closely cooperating with relevant bodies to accelerate preventive works to eradicate post and telecom crimes for the sake of a healthy telecom industry. With a good post telecom environment, Vietnam will have more chances to attract foreign investment
