Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa) opened a press conference on May 17 to introduce the VietGames 2006 prize-awarding ceremony, which will be held in Giang Vo Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre, Hanoi on May 28.
In addition, Vinasa also gives prizes to international games, games makers, the best Internet service providers, excellent gamers and games supporting devices like PCs, servers, chips, VGA and mobile phones.
Excellent gamers will take part in the International Software and Games Festival
ISGAF 2006 at Giang Vo Exhibition and Trade Fair Centre from May 26 to 29. In particular, the committee will cooperate with Zion Co. to select four best gamers to attend the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) to be held in France.
Vietnam to Open Showroom Series on Tourism, Gastronomy and Handicraft
A showroom series on Vietnamese tourism, gastronomy and handicraft will be opened in 92-96 Nguyen Hue Street, Ho Chi Minh City from May 20, 2006. This event will display and introduce natural beauties, historic and cultural values, gastronomic habits, handmade pieces and souvenirs.
To celebrate the APEC Vietnam 2006 Meeting, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre will organise the Vietnamese traditional gastronomy, musical instruments, dancing, sculpture, sand picture and bamboo weaving on June 1 and 2, 2006.
eSys Technologies JSC Named Third Intel Distributor
On May 15, 2006, Intel Corp. named a new eSys Technologies JSC to be a new distributor in Vietnam to supply Intel products in Vietnam. eSys Technologies JSC has distribution agents in three economic centres of Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City.
eSys Technologies JSC will distribute Intel products (CPU, Notebook and Servers) in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. eSys Technologies JSC has cooperated with the world-leading distributor ESYS Global to sell IT products in Vietnam. In 2006-2007, eSys Technologies JSC will open branches in other large cities like Can Tho, Nha Trang, Lam Dong, Hue, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and Thai Nguyen.
Vinasate Satellite to Orbit in Second Quarter, 2008
The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) signed a deal with the US’s Lockheed Martin to build Vietnam’s first telecom satellite Vinasat. The “Supply satellite, launching service and controlling station equipment” deal belongs to the Bid 3 of the project. Once in the orbit, Vinasat will enable Vietnam to expand and modernize the transmission network of its post and telecom industry.
As scheduled, Vinasat satellite will be sent into orbit in the second quarter of 2008. Vinasat will cover the entire Vietnamese territory and waters, ASEAN nations, Japan, Australia and parts of China. The total cost of the satellite was some US$270 million. The operational lifespan of Vinasat is 15 - 20 years.
