Maritime Vietnam 2006 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition & Convention Centre (HIECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 7 – 9 November 2006, organised by HQ Link Pte Ltd.
As Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry continues to develop, open market policies and ongoing administrative reforms are expected to be a magnet for more investors from Europe. The “Early Harvest Agreement”, signed in 2004, has paved the way for European investors in several fields, including maritime transport and significant moves are already underway in the sector.
To cope with the anticipated larger capacities, Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport will spend US$3.8 billion in upgrading and developing Vietnam’s port system, including the construction of additional deep water ports in the north, central and south of the country.
New and existing ports need to be fitted with sufficient equipment, facilities, management abilities and marketing skills, and various types of services to enhance their competitiveness against ports in the region.
In light of this long-term goal, Maritime Vietnam 2006, the Premier International Exhibition and Conference on Maritime Industry in Vietnam will serve as a sourcing platform for local and regional vessel owners, operators, builders and designers to view and keep updated on the latest in maritime, shipping, port technology and services from throughout the world.
Strong international orientation of Maritime Vietnam 2006 is reflected in the keen interest taken up by exhibiting companies in national/group pavilions from China, Germany, Holland, Korea, Poland, Russia, Singapore and Vietnam, with Holland as a feature country, to showcase the capabilities of their respective shipbuilding and marine equipment industries.
The event has received strong support from Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) as well as 12 other related maritime associations worldwide.
A one-day conference featuring key industry players and experts will provide local and international players with a platform to discuss regional maritime issues, analyse and explore trends and developments in the Southeast Asia region, as well as to gather information for future projects and other emerging issues concerning the maritime industry.
Alongside continued economic reforms and integration into the world and region’s economy, Maritime Vietnam 2006 will as a gateway into Vietnam’s maritime and shipbuilding industry, strengthening Vietnam’s status and power in the international arena and creating more opportunities for local and foreign investors to succeed in the country’s emergent business environment.
