Vietnam, Venezuela to Ink First Cooperative Deals
Vietnam and Venezuela will for the first time sign 5 cooperative agreements in energy, mining and culture during the visit of President Hugo Chavez to the Asian country late this month, Venezuelan Ambassador Jorge Rondon announced yesterday.
"It will be a very special moment for both countries’ relations, and the future deals will provide new opportunities for Hanoi and Caracas," the diplomat said at a ceremony meeting for the 195th Anniversary of Venezuela’s National Independence Day in Hanoi.
The documents to be signed will be the first of their kind as part of the Venezuelan government’s strategy to increase political, economic, and commercial links in Asia.
Vietnam and Venezuela established diplomatic relations in December 1989. Trade collaboration between the two countries is limited; two-way trade turnover in 2004 was $4.5 million.
