Public Economic Theory Conference to Organize in Hanoi

In cooperation with the Association for Public Economic Theory (APET), the National Economics University of Vietnam is organizing PET 06 Hanoi, to be held from July 31-August 2, 2006. This will be the 7th international PET conference.
 
The PET 06 Hanoi will be the very first meeting of academic economics in Vietnam with some 200 economists coming from universities and centers for scientific research around the world. It is anticipated that this meeting of academics and will strongly encourage research in the economics of Asia and Vietnam. It is also expected that open discussion on intellectual and scientific matters will contribute to strengthening economic management in Vietnam and further applications.
 
One important subtopic of the conference is applications to the economies of Asia and Vietnam. In addition, other sessions will discuss the following topics: (1) Aid, debt growth in developing countries; (2) Education, Public Policy and Growth; (3) Fiscal Federalism; (4) Finance, banking system and economic growth; (5) Inequality and Growth; (6) Innovation and Growth; (7) Labor Economics and Public Policy; (8) Law and Economics; (9) Local Public Economics, Economic Geography; (10) Public Markets; (11) Strategies of growth in Asia; (12) Taxation, Transfers, Social Security.
 
Tentative Program of PET 06 Hanoi
-          18:00 July 30: Welcoming Reception at the Melia Hanoi Hotel.
-          8:30 am July 31: The Grand Opening Ceremony
-          July 31 to August 2:  Presentation of papers
-          August 3 - 4: Other visiting and sightseeing activities in Hanoi and neighboring areas for Conference participants.
 
APET has held in the past PET conference in Alabama (1998), Warwick (2000), Paris (2002), Duke (2003), Beijing (2004) and Marseille (2005).
